Merry Christmas, everyone. Don't beat anyone to death with their own shoes. It's not the best type of Christmas behavior.

Up, Up, and Away

If the title is correct, I should be on a plane by the time any of you really notice this. I'll be off on my jaunt to Las Vegas, then California, then to Nebraska City. I'm going to be gone a grand total of 19 days. However, that does not mean that the action will stop here. Oh no. I wouldn't allow that.

While I'm gone, starting on Monday, Dec. 22, a twelve-part Gibberish story will begin. It's a re-vision of The Nutcracker, a la Gibberish style. Each comic, I hope, will be self-contained, but when read in sequential order--gasp!--they will tell a story. So please, if you enjoy any or all of them, tell your friends and neighbors and co-workers, as it will be Family and Work friendly. (It's a bummer isn't it?)

I wish you all a happy holiday, safe travels, and a wonderful New Year. Until then... enjoy.

The Countdown Continues

Less and less time for me to accomplish what I need to, and yet, it makes me want to do things even less. Last night, I completed Space Bird's habitat (see figure above, also note that it is not photoshoped, all effects are in camera (I love our new camera)), so that was something. Otherwise, I've been very much slacking. I'd try to keep this up, but it would lack humor, entertainment value, and productivity.

Gibberish tomorrow.

Where to Start...

There is not even close to enough time, from today until my trip on Friday, for me to get the things done that I would like to, too many arts and packing and homework. Bleh, I say. Bleh.

Yesterday, though, I constructed Space Bird's diorama, so he can be a floatin' for all eternity. It should be pretty cool. Maybe. I guess we'll see in the next few days as I finish putting it all together and get Space Bird mounted in his habitat. As with the other stages, I'll try to get some pics--which should be rather easy, as I ordered a spiffy camera over the weekend. Finally, my wife and I have stepped into the digital age.

That's about it for today, as I can already feel the weight of the day starting to crush me. Gibberish tomorrow. See you Wednesday.

The Continuing Saga of Space Bird

Here he is in all his painted glory. All things considered, I'm pretty excited about this whole venture. It came out better than I ever though possible. The only thing left is to build the diorama that he will live inside, floating forever in space. (Through his creation and my continued amusement by just looking at him, I think there is something wrong with my brain meats.)

Plus, I was mighty impressed with my friend's tiny camera (the top right picture is my favorite). That thing can take quite the picture once you get the settings where you want them. I shall purchase such an item--and soon.

As for the weekend, there will be lots more prep for our vacation. I still need to get things together so I won't miss a post while I'm gone--I will reveal a Gibberish surprise next week. Plus, I need to finish up a few more of my arts, as I won't have much time to work on such things while I'm on vacation.

Have yourself a super fine weekend, and I'll see you around on Monday.

Virus and Space Bird

Here be the bird what will float in space for eternity, Space Bird. This is just the earliest state, as it still needs to be painted and assembled--it has legs and a tiny space helmet (how else could it float in space?). Again, I'll try and post pics as the chronicles of Space Bird develop. (He is made from Crayola's Model Magic, which is both cool and crappy, in that it is easy to work with, lightweight, and has a nice texture, but it doesn't blend very well and shrinks some as it dries--which is almost too fast.)

As for the virus part of the title, I stumbled around the interweb yesterday, via Stumbleupon, but it took me to a site that simply downloaded a Trojan virus and restarted my computer. So that sucks, but it looks like our IT guys were able to get it taken care of, luckily.

More Christmas Gibberish tomorrow. Have a wonderful Wednesday.

Happy Birthday to Me

I'm now closer to 30 than 20, and it's rather frightening. In many ways, I still feel like I'm 16, 17 tops. However, I know that if I was exactly as I was back then, I wouldn't be married, I doubt I'd have many friends, and I would probably get punched on a daily basis.

Bad news for the B-Day is that I have to work the whole day. No time off for me. Luckily, we already celebrated the day with tasty Indian food, a Rifftrax of The Matrix, and playing my newest video game, Samba de Amigo for the Wii (I've had it on Dreamcast for years.)

I have some good news in that I completed the sculpting of Space Bird--for my upcoming art show. I'll try and post a pic of the unpainted figure for Wednesday, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to get my hands on a digital camera in time... (I know, here I am neck deep in the digital age, and I don't have even a trashy digital camera. Soon though, I hope.) Space Bird will soon take the world by storm.

Have a wonderful day, and check back tomorrow, as I kick off the start of Gibberish's Christmas themes.

Whew...

Today marks the end of my third semester for the MFA program. Only one left and I become a holder of a master's degree. Kinda frightening if you ask me. Luckily I finished most of my work yesterday for my turn in today, otherwise I'd be in trouble, as today will be rather busy. Ah well.

Found out last night that one of my cats has only one working kidney--and that one is weak. It's weird to think about how animals have so many of the same problems as we do, but we mostly don't take the time to find out what's wrong. I guess it just strikes me as odd, and I can't really say why.

All in all, I'm in a weird mood today. Need some more sleep. I think I shouldn't be allowed to make chili anymore (as it is WAY to hot for my own taste.) And I feel like there is too much to do in my remaining weeks before so much will explode.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend, and I'll see you back on Monday.

Boggles My Mind

I don't understand why two of the best games I've ever played would not sell for even $.99. As Robert Plant has before me: It really makes me wonder. I'm speaking of my eBay auctions--if you didn't notice. They are doing fairly well, but seriously, when I sell a game like Revolution X for $5.00 and get nothing for two amazing games, it just goes to show that the gaming world is just as bad as the rest of the entertainment world: It's not what is ACTUALLY good that gets attention, but the things they TELL you are good. Makes me downright sick.

So, as I have yet to really push for any sort of participation, I want to know what game you fell in love with that the world seems to ignore. What game is "classic" in your mind, but maybe not the eyes of the world? What gem have you found amongst the trash?

For me, it would be one of two games (only one of these was actually up for auction): Primal or Metal Arms: Glitch in the System. By far two of the coolest things I've ever played and I heartily recommend you get your grubby mitts on either one--or both. I'm pretty sure you could pick them up for cheap cheap.

Why is it Monday Again?

Well, now that last week has settled down, I've already been tossed into this one. I'm not looking forward to these next few days, as work will be busy and my final semester summary is due on Friday. (Something about those deadlines makes me feel like the world is just waiting for me to finish up before it will let me move on with my life.)

All things considered though, I don't have much to report. My eBay auctions are still going, and I'm adding new stuff every day. Thanksgiving was wonderful. The visit with my family was one of the best I've had in years--though I do wish my oldest brother could've made it. I bought some material for making more arts. And in the midst of it all, I took the time to guest write/artist for another webcomic, Big Sandy Gilmore. It's in full color--compared to my spot coloring, though Thursday's comic will be full color. And after you enjoy my comic, I'd suggest spending some time on Matt's site, as he has a fun, family friendly comic for everyone and was gracious enough to let me take over his comic.

As for my big announcement about Gibberish--if you even remember last Monday's post--it's still in the works. I'll just say that I'm planning on putting together a site for Gibberish all of its own, with its own domain and everything, and that updates will soon become more frequent. How frequent is still up in the air, but I assure you that they will bump up to, at least, three times a week.

Hope you all have a wonderful Monday, and that you can thoroughly recover from your Thanksgiving. New comic tomorrow, and I'll see you Wednesday.
